Bathroom Ventilation

The bathroom is the one room in your house which puts up with more wear and tear than any other room. While your kitchen might have to put up with the mess of cooking, your bathroom has to put up with huge amounts of airborne moisture. Such levels of moisture can lead to damage, mould and many other issues.

However, some bathrooms suffer these symptoms to much higher degrees than others. A closed up bathroom, one with no ventilation and closed windows will display far more moisture damage than a bathroom with a constant flow of fresh air.

Opening a window once you have had a shower will release most of the airborne moisture, meaning it is not left there to soak into the walls and warp them or to leave mould anywhere.

If you are concerned about the damage that airborne moisture is causing your bathroom, then perhaps you should consider installing an effective ventilation system or increasing the size of your windows. If you trust yourself enough to remember to open the windows once you have had a shower, then larger windows are an ideal option. Not only will they provide more ventilation, but they will also let in more light, leaving your bathroom with a more pleasant atmosphere.

Condensation and damp can be a nightmare to cure and adequate ventilation is the only solution.
