Bathroom Colours

Colour is always an important factor in creating the desired ambience of your bathroom. While other factors in bathroom design can have a massive impact on the overall feel – placement of furniture, furniture design, lighting and so on – colour is the glue that connects all the individual aspects together.

Of course, it doesn’t need to be one, monotonous colour that can bring a bathroom together. How many rooms have you seen in your life where every single wall and every single item of furniture are exactly the same colour? The answer, for most people, would be very few, if any. The key to really making your bathroom into the room you want it to be is to know which colours work with which, and which colours create which kind of ambience.

If you want your bathroom to be a peaceful and relaxing haven where you can unwind, then you will find that darker, subtler colours are ideal. The colour of the items of furniture should complement these darker colours, while not having to match exactly. Often, a few lighter items of furniture will complement darker wall colours very well. Shades can generate a new layer of subtlety in a room.

However, there are certain colours that will clash, causing an unsettled feeling in your bathroom. Dark red walls might create a really intimate feeling, but any green items of furniture in the room will ruin the entire atmosphere. However, light green basins or bathrooms in a white-walled bathroom can create a really refreshing feeling in your bathroom.
