Bath and Shower Screens | How to choose

Bathing and showering are two totally different experiences. There are many that prefer the calm atmosphere of a bath, and many who prefer the efficiency of a shower. Your preference could change depending on what mood you’re in, and how much time you have before you must leave for work. It seems sensible then to ensure your bathroom has both showering and bathing facilities. But most bathrooms are nowhere near large enough to fit two separate pieces of bathroom furniture in. A good idea is to use your bath for both bathing and showering.
The most important item you should add to your bath to enable it to become a shower too (apart from the shower itself) is a bath screen. Installing one of these will save you the hassle of having to mop up the bathroom floor every time you use your shower. They also provide varying degrees of privacy, depending on design.

Design
There are many different types of shower and bath screens. Sliding full bath enclosures enclose the entire bath in screen, and offer maximum protection against spray. However, they might appear overpowering in small bathrooms. If you have a smaller bathroom, you might want to opt for an over bath screen or a multi panel folding screen. An over bath screen provides protection from spray where it is needed, without taking up unnecessary bathroom space. Multi panel folding screens can extend out when required, and can then fold back into themselves when not in use, ideal for bathrooms where space is precious.

Style
Most bath and shower screens allow a huge scope of individual expression. If you have a themed bathroom, or one that sticks to a particular style, you should make sure your screen suits this style too. Bath and shower screens can actually add a lot to a bathroom. Various different glass and panel designs can enrich the atmosphere of your bathroom, while frosted glass can provide that extra degree of privacy for those who want it.

Installation
A poorly fitted screen can lead to leaks and wet floors, so if you plan to install one yourself, be sure you know exactly what you are doing. If there is any doubt, it will probably be beneficial to hire a professional to install your screen for you, as this will decrease the chances of a shabby fitting, and hopefully provide your bathroom with a welcome new feature, both practical and attractive.
